I just had a flight for what may be the tiniest baby I have ever seen. I received a phone call in the evening asking us to do a medevac
flight the next morning to bring a patient from a nearby village to the
hospital in Nyankunde. First thing the following morning, I was on
my way for the short 15-minute flight to Boga.
When I arrived the baby was all bundled up, so
at first I didn’t realize how small she was. It wasn’t until we were
almost ready to leave that I finally saw how tiny the baby was. Dorothy, was a small baby at just over
5 pounds, but this baby was much smaller. I later found out that she
was only 3 pounds, 12 ounces, and she had been born a month before!
We often take a minute to pray for our
passengers. This time was a bit different. I wasn’t just praying for a
safe flight and for effective work and ministry for my passengers. I was
praying that this little baby would live.
Later I talked to a couple of the doctors from the
hospital. They didn’t have a lot of details, but they did say
that there was a good chance the baby would not make it. So we wait,
pray, and trust our God who ultimately holds all
of our lives in his hands. Please pray with us for this precious little one.
