Displaced Christmas

“So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David…He went there to register with Mary…While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born.” ~Luke 2:4-6

We are far from home this Christmas. I am not just referring to friends and family, but to our physical home here in Africa. We’ve been away for almost two months now and I wasn’t really looking forward to Christmas. Kind of wanted to skip it this year, but we didn’t. Got me thinking about the first Christmas in a new light. I’m guessing Mary wasn’t quite where she wanted to be either.

Homemade decorations this year consisted of paper chains and snowflakes.
